We invite you to join us on TUESDAY, May 29th at 6:00pm to celebrate food, farming, and the power of collective action via our locavore potluck, seed and plant exchange. We generally meet on the last Monday of every month, but 5/28 is Memorial Day.

Meeting location: Na Aikane O Maui. 562 Front Street Lahaina, Hawaii 96761.

This month’s meeting we are Happy to hear from guest farmer Monica Bogar of Napiliflo Farm and Tamara Sherrill, Executive Director for Maui Nui Botanical Garden.
What to Expect:
  • 6:00pm: Aloha and Welcome! Blessing - Locavore Potluck (Please bring a dish to feed 6) or pay $12.
  • 6:15pm: Community sharing
  • 6:30pm: guest farmer Monica Bogar of Napiliflo farm
  • 6:45pm: Tamara Sherrill, executive director for Maui Nui Botanical Garden - sharing about uala and other canoe crops
  • 7:15pm: Unraffle from local businesses
  • 7:30pm: pau
 
Meet Our Presenters
Monica Bogar is the owner and operator of Napili Flo Farm, a family owned small urban farm in Napili, Maui. They grow organic microgreens and edible flowers for local restaurants in their community.
 
 
Tamara Sherrill is the Executive Director of MNBG and was the Gardens' Nursery Manager and Curator from 2002-2005. She helped collect and establish the Gardens’ current collection of plants. The mission of the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens (MNBG) is to foster appreciation and understanding of Maui Nui’s plants and their role in Hawaiian cultural expression by providing a gathering place for discovery, education, and conservation. MNBG is a public botanical garden that features the native and canoe plants of Maui County, including more than 100 labeled Hawaiian heritage crop varieties. The garden began as part of the former County Zoo in the 1970’s and was re-opened as a native plant public garden in 2001. The organization hosts workshops, annual events, group visits, and tours daily.
