Ana Lillis and Gerry Madriga from the Maui County Department of Finance Real Property Tax Division will explain the process of agriculture dedication so property owners can benefit from the agricultural tax rate for the portion of the property that qualifies. Learn more about the RPT Division.

Evan Ryan’s Pono Grown Farm Center is located at 2100' elevation and historically averages 70" of rain a year. Evan Ryan offers his love of the land as a permaculture designer, farmer, project manager and educator. He is the founder of Pono Grown Farm Center on the island of Maui, a diversified production farm and mentoring center raising fruits, vegetables, chickens and bees. Evan's focus is on bringing permaculture systems to production agriculture for both home gardens, orchards and commercial farms. Evan will be with us to share some summer gardening tips, and take your agriculture related questions. Check out Evan’s website and learn more about what he’s up to.

Do you like this agenda? If you have recommendations for future events, please let your representative on the Board know what you would like your HFUU Haleakala Chapter to be doing. Email haleakala-president@hfuuhi.org with recommendations, comments, questions or concerns about your chapter.

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well. Sharing is caring, let’s make it happen! The three top givers of the most abundant swap items will be given complimentary deserts with the tickets for the un-raffle.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization, we are the change we are waiting for, let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.

With aloha,

Simon Russell

HFUU-Haleakalā Chapter
President
